Two words: Cat. Hiccups.
Luckily, I don't get too many crazy excuses for being late. There are a million other ways they manage to make me crazy (I say it with love), but my colleagues are some of the most conscientious when it comes to putting in an honest day's work.
Where some of them go wrong is giving me too much info when I really, really don't need it. Instead of just saying "I'll be out sick today" it's "I've barfing all night. Barfing and barfing. So much barf. You know, I thought that shellfish smelled bad but I just couldn't help myself..." Like, what am I going to say? Prove it?
Ugh.
- WikiHow has a seriously detailed manual for "How to call in sick when you just need a day off" - I don't think anyone needs this much coaching, but there it is.
- Gawker says "Mondays and Fridays are off limits" and I tend to agree. In fact, that's my first tip off that something ain't right.
- Here's "9 Ways to Get Busted for Faking a Sick Call" (via HeadDrama).
- Finally, if you're going to fake sick, don't be an idiot and post video of your call to the boss on YouTube. That's just asking for it, really.
